Does any other self-identified 'opinionator' exist who yells louder than Bill O'Reilly,is as stupidly insipid as Sean Hannity, as impervious to the truth as Chris Matthews,is as over-bearingly condescending as Nancy Grace, more narcissistic and smarmy than Geraldo Rivera,or more worthless than Connie Chung? Help me hold the collective 'media' feet to the fire, have fun playing w/ words and searching for great websites to blog. Door's open, come on in!!

I run on the beach and no one mistakes me for Bo Derek and I'm proud of that; I walk and explore in the redwood forests while moving banana slugs so they don't get squashed by traffic. Love art, esp.sculpture and/or anything with color;all over the map w/music. Talk back to the television and radio...I still haven't figured out how they get those tiny people into the TV/radio.

Rape is not a sex act

For any neanderthals still out in the world...male or female... here's a news flash: RAPE is not a sex act, a consensual sex act, a way to make love or convey affection. RAPE happens to females and males, of all ages from months-old babies to the oldest among us. RAPE is an act of violence, driven by misogyny in many cases, the rapist trying to prove he/she has control of parts of their lives. It's a felony assault and should be so enacted in every state of this grand country, in every county or parrish and by the federal government.

Let's think about terrorists, shall we? They lie in wait, plan their attacks strategically to do the most damage, shatter lives into tiny fragments and congratulate themselves among their like-minded cohorts. These terrorists gain your trust, promise to protect you, and when enough time has passed they destroy you and everyone and everything around them. You know these terrorists, maybe you are one or know someone who is. Mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, grandpas and grandmas, cousins , teachers and all others in powers of authority.

So what can you do?? Well, homeland security says to be vigilant. The problem with that is it indicates we all look out for our entire country...and that's physically not possible.

BUT you can be vigilant in your home, at your local schools, with close friends and family members. If something looks out of place, it usually is...and regardless, it warrants another look and listen. Find out what your school policies are in hiring staff and teachers...what background checks are requested, are fingerprints taken and checked against the NCIC datatbase? If your child(ren)suddenly becomes withdrawn at school or at home...find out why. And that means going to the school...so you have to get off your ass!!

Check the Megan's Law sex offenders lists in your area...but remember many sex offenders do not register even though they are leglly mandated to do just that. Have local police officials come to schools for workshops with students in age-appropriate terms and include the teacher (no taking a break in the teachers' lounge while this is going on.) Get authorities to come to community meetings to underscore the seriousness of these heinous crimes and get their opinions on what can be done to protect your community from becoming prey.

We all are members of the animal kingdom, and predators always go for the weakest prey. So get busy and make sure no one you care about or even know in passing is a weak link for the ever lurking predators around us.
